Same-Sex Marriage became law in the District of Columbia on March 3, 2010, giving members of the LGBT community the right to legally marry within the District.
I have always had the greatest desire to serve a greater part of our society by providing gays and lesbians a professional service that isn't always readily available to them. Many same sex couples found stumbling blocks in the marriage license application process because the District of Columbia requires them to know who will be officiating their ceremony from the very beginning. They want to get married by someone they know is sensitive to their needs and respectful of their same-sex union. For this reason, going to the church around the corner to hire the services of an officiant isn't always a viable option.
I not only respect your same-sex union, but I applaud and celebrate it! As one-half of a "racially mixed" marriage, I know that just 40 short years ago I would not have been able to legally marry my husband. I simply cannot imagine that I would have been able to bear that sort of discrimination knowing just how much I love him.
I truly understand the importance of feeling "comfortable" with the person who is standing before you while you exchange vows with the love of your life. (I took the time to find mine and I consider her a friend to this very day!) That's why I offer a free, no obligation consultation to allow us a chance to meet, discuss your needs and to see if we are a good match for one another before you name me on your marriage license application. We can even meet via a call on Skype if you are outside a 50 mile radius from my home in Baltimore, MD!
I am DC-licensed and as a wedding celebrant, I perform religious and non-religious, same-sex ceremonies. I take your commitment seriously, and consider it to be truly my honor to be share in the joy of your wedding day memories.
Please feel free to contact me consult my calendar and to select a date for your ceremony.
